Marion Mull Moir

Marion Mull Moir currently resides in Sarnia, ON.  She attended teacher’s college in Peterborough and has formal training from the University of Western Ontario (now Western University).  Marion has had art lessons with Tony Urquart, Hugh MacKenzie, Roly Fenwick, Gordon Peters, Jen Coles and Pauli Legate.  Marion acted as a supply teacher for secondary school art classes until her retirement in 1983.

“It is always a matter of balancing technique and passion.  Passion is a tool to be taken seriously.  A. Y. Jackson gave a talk to the Sarnia Art Association and he was such a humble accommodating man.  Jen Coles and Pauli Legate taught night classes and freely gave of their knowledge.  There were many more artists who came to teach.  On two occasions, my husband gave me a week at a lodge in Haliburton.  There I painted for twelve hours every day.  This was a tremendous and lasting benefit to my painting.  Entering shows was a tremendous help in growing as an artist because I could assess my work against others, objectively.  Always growing, changing, yet keeping true to my inner core, I am a plein air artist whose age keeps me in the car to paint when the weather requires it. I am enjoying being playful in my imagination in the last few years.”
